AI Companies : Artificial Intelligence Companies

From recognizing our faces, we identify our tastes, pointing out possible threats, protecting ourselves from cyberattacks, determining the failures in particular systems to proposing solutions, and interacting with humans through chats.

Artificial intelligence applications are very varied, and what before It seemed fiction is about to be part of our reality.

For this reason, in recent years, AI companies have grown in number and variety worldwide.

Full of possibilities, artificial intelligence has the virtue of being applied in countless fields and spaces.

The research and development of its possibilities have become a scientific necessity and an excellent business opportunity.

IDC estimates till the end of 2021, AI companies will reach a volume of $ 57.6 billion. The fields that AI companies work in are numerous: transportation, security, defense, agriculture, entertainment, finance, and more.

Many of these firms startups have become unicorns that have reached more than a trillion dollars.

These types of companies are the ones that are leading this market, but some companies have allied with large technological giants.

Some of his lines of research are obvious, and others surprising. In this article, we present you with five artificial intelligence companies that are transforming the industry.

5 Leading Artificial Intelligence Companies : AI Companies:

OpenAI:

On December 11, 2015, visionary Elon Musk and Sam Altman, along with Peter Thiel and Reid Hoffman, created OpenAI.

It is a non-profit organization that focuses on the research and development of artificial intelligence. Its main objective is that its product is for the benefit of the entire community.

To do this, they work in free collaboration with other institutions and researchers and opt for the Open Source system so that everyone has access to technology.

That is, artificial intelligence research projects are promoted, and then it is given free access.

OpenAI has worked on numerous projects in different fields. One of the most recognized programs is the GTP-2 and GTP-3 language programs.

They are text generators capable of auto-completing, editing, and reviewing texts in various languages.

The GPT-3 has about 175 billion parameters; however, the program was patented for the exclusive use of Microsoft.

Another project is OpenAI Gym, a platform for reinforced learning research. Additionally, he is responsible for RoboSumo, a physical training system for robots that allows them to develop their ability to function, intelligent, and learning. Finally, another of its developments is Universe.

Deepmind:

Deepmind is one of the best AI companies; It is an English artificial intelligence company founded in 2010. Today it belongs to Google after being acquired by the giant in 2014.

Mustafa Suleyman, Shane Legg, and Demis Hassabis created this company. In 2014, it received the “Company of the Year” award from the Cambridge Computing Laboratory.

His initial focus was researching computer systems capable of playing video games.

Deepmind created a neural network that learns to play video games like humans. In 2016 his AlphaGo show managed to defeat a professional Go player for the first time.

Go is considered more difficult to win on computers than other games since it has more possibilities. The company’s system is not pre-programmed but learns from experience.

Following several subsequent victories at Go, Deepmind began to focus on new fields of research.

That is why its programs have been able to diagnose visual diseases as effectively as doctors; they can also predict the 3D shapes of proteins and even improve clean energy efficiency.

He has also contributed to some of the new Android features at Google, such as adaptive brightness and machine learning to conserve power.

NVidia:

Among these top AI companies are also NVidia. It was founded in 1993 in California by Jen-Hsun Huang, Chris Malachowsky, and Curtis Priem.

The company specializes in the development of graphics processing units and integrated circuit technologies for different devices.

Its developments in artificial intelligence are varied—Produced GuaGan, a tool that allows you to create fake landscapes from sketches.

The program is based on the spatially adaptive normalization technique, capable of creating realistic images from semantic designs.

StyleGAN is another of his AI projects. It is a generative confrontational network that works with an AI algorithm and can generate the faces of non-existent people.

One of the latest advancements is NVidia’s NGX which uses deep learning and AI for pixel sampling. In other words, it gives life to images that do not have it; while also scaling quality and improving sharpness when running.

It also launched NVidia Maxime, a video conferencing platform that solves the usual problems they have through AI.

Cambricon Technologies:

Founded in 2016, Cambricon Technologies is an artificial intelligence chip giant in China. It started with government money at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the national institute for science and technology.

Later, it spun off and began selling chips to accelerate deep learning on devices. It gained recognition as a significant supplier of artificial intelligence chips for Huawei smartphones.

Its flagship product is the Cambricon-1ª, the first generation of an AI chip for peripheral devices and the world’s first deep learning processor for commercial use.

It has also launched the Cambricon-1H and Cambricon-1M chips. By 2021, the company expects to generate large-scale revenue from the Siyuan 290 smart chip that will run in the cloud through its new 7nm generation.

Graphcore:

The main aim of Graphcore company is to provide the best future where everyone lives a healthier and creative life.

And through technology, it will be possible to reach an era where intelligence and progress can benefit everyone. For this reason, the company founded in 2016 focuses on researching artificial intelligence.

Graphcore is a semiconductor company developing AI accelerators. Its main objective is to create a massively parallel Intelligence Processing Unit (IPU) that includes a machine learning model.

In 2017 they released Colossus GC2, a 16nm massively parallel mixed-precision floating-point processor. The processor, they claimed, had the same function as a GPU along with standard machine learning frameworks.

In July 2020, the company introduced hardware from the second generation of its processor called the GC200. This one has a 7nm FinFet processor that is considered one of the best AI companies.
